Why Blickling Estate?

Whilst there is not a huge amount of infrastructure at Blickling there are two things in abundance – freedom and flexibility!

Freedom and flexibility to:

  • create an event headquarters that suits our needs
  • build an event village which will bring real choice and add value to the event
  • head out of the event HQ and into the Norfolk countryside in any direction we wanted in order to offer three great cycling routes.

Finally, not forgetting the freedom and flexibility the venue can offer to non-riding family members or friends who can also come along and have a great day out in the Estate.

Event Village

Because we would like this event to be a sociable affair and not just all about the riding, we will be inviting a range of traders and display stands along for the day. These will include some amazing food stalls – all from the Feast on the Street www.feastonthestreet.co.uk – and some cycling related trade stands from Streetlife Cycles & Torq Fitness.

Why three short loops?

This format proved to be a great success in previous years so we are sticking with a winning formula! It offers flexibility and helps to make the event accessible to all levels of rider. Everyone can decide on the day how far to ride and the central event HQ reduces the pre-planning needed by riders. For example, if the weather changes or riders experience a wardrobe malfunction they can nip back to their car between laps and add / deduct layers!

Riders can choose to ride any combination of the three loops – the only thing we ask is that there are ridden in numerical order as this will allow us to manage mechanical assistance and first aid cover more effectively.

Returning to Event HQ after each loop also makes rider re-fuelling simple and effective!

There will be a first aid station at HQ as well as mobile units around the course so any medical issues can be attended to and maybe even a light massage from the sports science guys to help keep the legs spinning!
